A Note on Community
Gratitude for People
Dear Younger Me,
There is something I hope you never abandon.
I know at times you will turn from it.
At times you will forget it.
At times other things will take priority.
Younger me, please never abandon it:
Community.
There will be seasons of great success, but others of greater discouragement. Seasons where you do not understand why you are on the path you are on. Seasons where you do not know when or how or why or what to turn to.
There is an answer.
I hope you continue to turn to your communities.
The communities you have will do two important things:
1. Center you
2. Be in your corner
This road you are walking will be lonely. It will be misunderstood. It will be questioned. Others will find “success” and “glory” and “make it” before you do. It will hurt. It will be sad. It will cause you to question everything.
In these times please turn back.
Turn back into your community.
Your communities will become your most valuable asset because they will center you. They will get you back in alignment with the purpose they know you started your journey with. They will remind you of it. They will believe in you.
At times they will believe in you more than you believe in yourself.
They will always be in your corner. They are not that far away.
So, in times of heartache. In times of discouragement. In times of hardship I need you to do this one thing:
Turn back and embrace your community.
Best,
Older You
