The Good Ole Days
Read to be reminded
Dear Younger Me,
Do you remember the “good ole days”?
I’m curious your answer. I know you have them.
I know you have them because everyone has the “good ole days”.
Even you, Younger Me, have “good ole days.”
Which is an interesting thing to think about, wouldn’t you say?
It doesn’t matter the time, or place, or even age that you are reading this letter.
Younger me, you may be 10, or 18, or 21.
You may be 35 or 50 or 80.
You would still look back on the “good ole days.”
Heck, even 10 year old self and 50 year old self may still look back on the “good ole days” of running out of kindergarten into mom’s arms.
Or 25 and 40 year old self may look back on the “good ole days” of going out to the college bar with your buddies.
The intriguing revelation in my reflection is that every season is the good ole days if you really think about.
Get this, the season you are in RIGHT NOW will be the eventual “good ole days.”
Whether you are suffering or celebrating. Studying or working. Whether you are learning shapes and colors or trying to build that first business. Spend mornings dropping kids off at school or waiting for them to come over for Christmas. All the seasons eventually become the “good ole days.”
Younger me, I don’t know where this letter will find you. Maybe it will be on a procrastinating morning delaying the opening of the real work emails. Or a during a late night study break. Or a returned read as you savor the post-thanksgiving slump as your grandchildren run around.
No matter when or where or in what season you are reading, please know this:
You are in the “good ole days.”
Best,
Older You
