An Airplane Reflection
Notes from 30,000 Feet
Dear Younger Me,
There’s an interesting hypocrisy happening.
It has to do with health.
Younger me, you’ve always been keen on having good health.
Whether playing sports, working out, getting quality sleep, or eating good food, you’ve always understood it’s importance.
I think it comes from mom.
Besides the point, a trend I’ve noticed is many people have begun going all in on their health.
Especially the hyper successful…
Steven Bartlett swears by his Whoop band and preaches exercising 7 days a week.
Mark Zuckerburg has invested heavily in martial arts. His 6 pack shows his effort.
Sahil Bloom got into running, completed a sub 3-hour marathon, and recently shared his biological age is in his early 20s…
As a 32 year old.
Steven, Zuck, and Bloom are amongst hundreds of thousands of “made-it” entrepreneurs who preach the importance of exercise, healthy eating, and sleep.
But this is where the hypocrisy comes in. This is where I get confused.
All this talk is coming AFTER they’ve “made it.”
Marathons got ran after the $100 million holding company was built.
7 days a week exercising? Only after the company went public.
Embracing the “grindset” and sacrificing sleep to climb the ladder.
I don’t say this to condemn, but rather to lean in:
Can you prioritize health before business and still succeed on a massive scale?
I hope that is something you can strive for…
If not, I hope the health gets back on track after the empire is built.
You decide, Younger Me. I hope it makes your older self proud.
Best,
Older You
